artist statement

Sarah E. Roy is an Eastern Shore based visual artist and creative writer specializing in illustration and content production.  She graduated from Washington College with dual degrees in English & Art.  Her interests in literature, philosophy, and art history heavily inform the context of her work. 

Roy is inspired by a love of storytelling media: from comics to classics, video games to film.  she often evokes themes of transcendentalism and concern for human and environmental rights, explored via magic realism.  Her goal as an artist is to persist with curiosity in the face of cosmic horror to defeat complacency. 

She has three orange cats.
